Hard Times

I am a huge animal lover. Having grown up with animals my whole life having a pet is something that I have always considered a part of life. My dogs have always been extremely spoiled and the cat that I have had for the past 2 years is as well.

My background may be why I am having such a hard time thinking about pets during this economic crisis. I feel that someone needs to give them a voice because they do not have one.

Reports show that during these economic times the number of animals that have been left homeless because their owners homes got foreclosed has increased greatly.

Furthermore, the number of animals that have homes but are hungry is also at a high point. When one can barely afford to feed themselves and their family, often their pets are the first oens to suffer.

Some may suggest giving away pets to shelters or animal hospitals if they can not support them, but shelters are also having a hard time keeping up with the high volume of animals they need to support.

Whether you are a pet owner or not, it is always a good idea to help out animals. They can not apply for jobs, buy their own food, get their own water, or make their lives better. They are completely depended on us.

There are many ways that you can donate to animals in need. Whether it be a few dollars that you have, or time to volunteer to walk the dogs or play with cats, you can make a difference in the life of an animal.
