Internet of Things Driving Warehouse Efficiencies

Ben Ames, writing in DC Velocity, notes several potential ways to deliver benefits. He notes that while set up costs (in the form of sensors, data network costs, and implementation expenses) can be significant, once in place, the benefit can be significant. He cites the ability to “rescue” perishable items from going out of code, to monitoring fuel levels, battery charges, lights left on overnight, and conveyors running empty as opportunities. Inasmuch as much of this can be considered “waste reduction” there are likely also environmental sustainability benefits to be considered in the justification of the investment.
