Who’s Going to the Draft
Matt Hemphill is our guest blogger and is a manager for the LUC men’s basketball team:
‘Declared for the draft’, the words every NBA fan is waiting to here at this time. As there college basketball season is winding down we look next to the NBA draft and to those players declaring for the NBA. In a year that has ten top fifteen prospects as freshmen, fans hold their breath wondering if they will declare and help their team.
Of the top prospects, only two are seniors and unable to return, Jerian Grant, and Frank Kaminsky. NBA fans don’t want a repeat of 2011 which slowly saw a top draft class turned to one of the weakest when players such as Harrison Barnes, Terrance Jones, Thomas Robinson and Jeremy Lamb returned to school.
With many freshman in the top ten, there is a high likelihood most will declare, creating one of the deepest classes ever and topping last years. With potential impact starters in the second round, this class of freshman holds all the power of the youth movement in the NBA next year. The NBA and lottery teams sit and wait to hear from the likes of D’Angelo Russell, Karl-Anthony Town, and Jahil Okafor to declare for the NBA draft.
