The Supply & Value Chain Center Welcomes its New Members

In 2013, Mayor Emanuel of Chicago and non-profit business development organization, World Business Chicago recognized the importance and value of the global supply chain and launched a new organization, Supply-chain Innovation Network of Chicago (SINC). The goal of SINC is to make the city more competitive through improved supply chain, transportation and logistics, towards Chicago’s economic and business development.

Today, WBC and SINC have partnered with Loyola University and its Supply and Value Chain Center as the ONLY school to partner with, to help drive the same goal. In addition to that, the Supply and Value Chain Center is happy to welcome its first 23 members made up of some of the most diverse and competitive companies in the country.

Companies include Kraft Foods, McDonalds, Abbott Laboratories, Walgreen’s and many more. What is interesting to note is the profile of the companies that have become members. Not only do we have several manufacturers and distributors, but we also have a retailer, law firm, software companies and a consulting firm. I am confident that we will also be getting banks and insurance companies to join as well.

It is great to see that there is a need in the supply and value chain management profession. Corporations want to have a place to go to for intellectual capital, analytical tools to use and a research Center that covers the supply chain from end to end.

The center is bringing together corporate America, government and academia to share information, better practices and exchange ideas together, making the Supply and Value Chain Center the choice to go to for companies who are looking to improve their supply chain management.

It is a collaborative effort focusing initially on our region to be the leader in Logistics and SCM for education, training, jobs and expertise in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale and retail.
