LUC Alum Prepares Richard J. Daley Archive

Archivist Peggy Glowacki, an alum of Loyola’s Public History program, has prepared a collection of photos, letters, and memorabilia display for an invitation-only opening at UIC’s Richard J. Daley Library.

“Glowacki estimates that the room’s rows of shelves contain 150 linear feet of documents, most of which arrived many years ago, in boxes that appeared to have been untouched since the days after Daley died. More than 7,000 photos, plus hundreds of books, memorabilia and ephemera, round out the collection.
The items were donated by the Daley family at the direction of Daley’s wife, Eleanor, a woman Glowacki described as the ultimate saver, who wrote on the backs of photographs and saved every newspaper clipping.”

The collection will open to the public Thursday, July 24, 2013. Read more at the Chicago Tribune.
