Open Registration for Summer Online Teaching Workshops

Colleagues–The following is a listing of all workshops we will be offering during May & June. Each workshop has two sessions to choose from. These hour-long sessions are online, are spaced throughout the day and week for your convenience, and are open to all Loyola faculty and instructors.
Register by emailing facultycenter@luc.edu with your request(s). Please include both session title and date preference(s).  It is helpful to know if you will be attending, but if you forget to register, please come anyway.

Active Learning Presentation Tools

This workshop will cover some advanced features of Articulate Presenter, Adobe Presenter, and camtasia, including how to embed interactive quizzes and content to promote active learning. It is stronly recommended taht participatns attend the Tolls for Presenting Materials workshop prior to attending this workshop, as we weill not have time to cover the basics of each of the tools during this workshop.

The ability to build and maintain community in an online course remains one of the primary challenges for the online faculty member. This session provides some ideas about how online groups can help students be more accountable to the class and also engage more fully in course content and concepts. We will discuss asynchronous group work with the structure built in Sakai. The other groups workshops we offer deal with synchronous groups in Adobe connect.

The need for clear communication with our online students extends into our assessment practices. One of the best ways to clearly communicate grading processes and expectations is through the use of rubrics. Although Sakai currently doesn’t offer a rubric tool, there are still ways to effectively use rubrics in Sakai. In this session, we will offer an overview of rubric basics as well as strategies for using rubrics in Sakai.
Tools for Presenting Materials

This workshop will give you a brief overview of the different tools that we recommend for presenting online materials, and how each of the tools differs in terms of functionality. We will give you a brief demonstration of how to create materials in Articulate Presenter, Adobe Presenter, Camtasia, and Adobe Connect.
