2016 Student Development Committee Research Grant Award Recipient
Michael Hines, PhD Cultural and Educational Policy Studies Candidate is one of two students to receive the 2016 Student Development Committee (SDC) Research Grant Award. The SDC Research Grant is a $1,000 annual award granted to a PhD or EdD. student to assist in their dissertation work. Michael’s dissertation is “To Make Them Feel That They Are Men Amongst Men: The Supplementary Units for the Course of Instruction in Social Studies and Black History in Chicago Schools 1924-1945.”
This Grant is awarded by the SDC, a standing committee of the Academic Council of the School of Education. The award is presented at the School of Education Annual Research Symposium. Congratulations!
