CEPS Faculty on Lecture Tour in Brazil
On October 6-7 Professors Amy Shuffelton and Noah W. Sobe, both faculty in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies, delivered a series of lectures at the State University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP) in Brazil.
As part of a cycle of seminars on education, the family and childhood, Professor Shuffelton spoke on parent involvement and the privatization of the school and the family, as well as on the politics of the “new fatherhood” in the United States. Professor Sobe’s lectures delved into the history and historiography of childhood in the United States and the history of attention and boredom in schools. Next week their lecture tour, funded by a grant from the Brazilian government, continues at the University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ).
