Ernestine Riggs, PhD Retires 1999- 2013
Dr. Riggs was recognized at the April faculty and staff school-wide meeting for her contributions to the school spanning 14 years. Dr. Riggs was the guiding force behind the school’s Joy is Reading Conference for the Lake Shore campus neighborhood schools, the students and their parents. The focus of which was to share literacy experiences and embark on futures as lifelong readers. Dr. Riggs also led three educational trips to South Africa where our candidates and CPS teachers met with South African educational leaders and classroom teachers. Besides these events, as Dr. Giroux said most eloquently in her tribute to Dr. Riggs, “Dr. Riggs must be remembered as a great educator.”
