What is TeamSpot?

TeamSpot has several outstanding features that truly make group work an instantly collaborative and interactive experience. Each user connects with their individual laptop to the computer in the group study room, which acts as the TeamSpot host that allows for seemless movement of files and ideas between computers. Follow the links above for downloading the TeamSpot software and connecting to the TeamSpot hosts in the group study rooms. Below is a list of TeamSpot key features:

Jumping Screens: move your cursor off your laptop and onto the host computer, no need to switch keyboard/mouse between the two!

Easy Cut & Paste: you can copy, cut and paste text, links and even files/folders from your laptop to the host just by jumping screens.

Quick Drag & Drop: Drag and drop files to TeamSpot that automatically save and open on all recipent laptops, no more emailing and choosing locations to save files.

Annotate: draw, annotate and make revisions like you would a physical document with the click of a button.

Show & Share Screens: No need to physically move your computer to show someone what you’re doing, just click a button and they see it on their computer. Furthermore, with a click of a button you can share your screen so others can use your computer without moving.

Archive Everything: files that are sent between computers, links, annotated images and even comments are automatically saved to an archive that is identical for all users that helps to avoid any confusion of current files or duplication of work.

Where is TeamSpot available?

Every day nearly 247 billion emails are sent to user mailboxes around the globe. According to the Radicati Group, in 2009 nearly 81% of these emails contained spam or viruses. Phishing (pronounced like “fishing”) emails are intended to steal your identity by asking for personal data or directing you to web sites or to send an email.

Download Our Wallpaper for Use on Your Computer

You may have noticed our new wallpaper campaign that started this week across campuses in our multimedia labs. Each week Digital Media Services will feature a new tip or recommendation for software and hardware to try out. This week, the staff elected to identify ways in which we can help reduce our carbon footprint as a campus, as well as helping you save some money in the process. One quick and easy way is to simply print in duplex (two-sided print job) from our on-campus multimedia labs.

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

In a recent review, TechSoup – a non-profit technology resource found that “the average office worker uses 130 lbs. of paper/year. That is approximately 37 reams of paper per person or almost 4 boxes of paper.” By printing 100 pages in duplex , you cut your overall C02 contribution by more than a half-pound! Not only can you help the Earth, but also keep more money in your wallet.

Cost Savings

While you’ve helped cut back on your total CO2 contributions, you’ll also notice a reduced price for printing. Let’s take that same 100-page document you would have printed earlier. If you printed that document single-sided, you would pay $7.00; while if you selected the duplex option, you would only pay $5.00. That’s a $2 savings!

So how do I print in duplex?

PC’s
