Summer Language Course for Faculty and Staff
You’ll recall that I had blogged with you about a summer language course for faculty and staff. The most interest seems to lie in Spanish, and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to set that up for this summer. Here’s the basic information:
Communicative Spanish for Fun
When:
4 weeks, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, May 21-June 13
4:30-6:30 p.m., LSC
Instructor: Joel Colom-Mena
Description:
Designed for faculty and staff with no or minimal knowledge of Spanish, this course will focus mainly on interaction and communicative skills. The course will help you develop and strengthen language abilities: speaking, reading, and writing through the use of vocabulary, grammar, and culture. Additional information will be sent to participants in advance of the start of the course.
The instructor, Mr. Joel Colom-Mena, is one of our very own since he received his MA in Spanish from Loyola. He currently has a full-time lecturer position at Northwestern University. As the course description states, he would be contact with you in advance of the course in order to ascertain your level of Spanish and motivation for taking the course, all of which would become a part of his planning for the course.
The course will cost $250, quite a bargain, I think, but still enough to get your serious commitment
.
So I hope you will consider taking the course, for fun, but also in order to become a part of our internationalization efforts at Loyola.
