Alert for Posts to Dicussion Board

Q. How do you set up an alert for student posts to a discussion board?

A. You can set either a discussion forum or a discussion thread so that you and your students can “subscribe” to the forum or thread.

  1. Click on the chevron menu beside the discussion forum.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Scroll down to forum settings and select either Allow members to subscribe to threads or Allow members to subscribe to forum. The following setting determines whether the entire post will be included in the email or there will only be a link to the post.
  4. When students click on the name of the forum, they will see a Subscribe button directly above any threads that are posted. If a student subscribes, he or she will be sent an email when there is a new post to the forum or to the thread.
