Service Interruption Aug. 6-7

From 11:00 p.m. Central time on Friday August 6th to 7:00 a.m. Saturday August 7th, 2010, Blackboard will be performing essential maintenance in preparation for the upcoming Back to School period. The work involved is larger in scale than most of the work handled during the regular weekly Friday maintenance. 

Please take note that this is an extended 8 hours service - impacting maintenance being performed on a Saturday and service interruption is expected during this maintenance window. Blackboard will make all efforts to keep the interruption within the window to a minimum.

System Maintenance July 30 – Possible Service Interruption

On Friday July 30th, 2010, between the hours of 012:00 am and 05:00 am US Central, Blackboard Managed Hosting Engineers will be performing preventative maintenance to improve performance and stability.

While no interruption in service is anticipated as a result of the work, it cannot be entirely ruled out that Blackboard might have to restart services on a few client systems if the need warrants. They are performing the work during the normal maintenance window to minimize any potential risk.

Service Interruption July 23-24

Blackboard will be conducting extensive diagnostics and applying any related fixes from 11:00 PM Central Daylight Time (CDT) on Friday, July 23rd, to 7:00 AM Saturday July 24th  in preparation for the upcoming Back to School period. 

Why is the maintenance window 8 hours instead of the usual 4 hours?

This project is larger in scale than most of the maintenance work done during regular maintenance windows. While the work itself should not take the full 8 hours, Blackboard has built a buffer into the window to resolve any problems as well as time to ensure the network is operating as expected post-maintenance.

Will my site be offline the entire window?  

Blackboard will take all necessary steps to minimize the impact to clients.  However, because the maintenance requires redirecting traffic in addition to physically removing equipment, users may experience extended periods of latency and/or packet loss at any time during the entire window.  Users may find the site available sporadically but should not plan any work that may not be saved if the site were to become unreachable.

Brief Service Disruption July 18th

On Sunday July 18th 2010, during the hours of 2:00 am to 4:00 am Central Daylight Time, Blackboard will be performing maintenance of our environment. The maintenance will result in a brief service disruption.

Regular Preventive Maintenance July 23rd

During the weekly scheduled maintenance window of 01:00 am to 05:00 am US Central on Friday July 23rd, 2010, Blackboard’s Datacenter provider will be on site at Virginia Data Center 2 performing regular preventive maintenance. This maintenance is not expected to be service impacting, however engineers are performing the work during the normal maintenance window to minimize any potential risk of service interruption.

Service Interruption July 9

On Friday July 9th, 2010 between the hours of 01:00 am and 05:00 am US Central, Blackboard’s Managed Hosting Infrastructure Team will be performing essential maintenance at their VA2 and VA3 data centers. 

Please note this is a service-impacting maintenance as users will experience periods of inactivity. Blackboard will make all efforts to keep the interruption to a minimum.
