Emergency Maintenance, August 1, 2009

Emergency maintenance to perform hardware replacement  is planned for Saturday, August 1st 2009, and the work will start at 7:00 a.m. CDT and is expected to continue until 9:00 p.m. CDT. Faculty and students can expect intermittent service interruptions during this maintenance window. Blackboard will take every precaution to keep the work seamless and maintain system availability.

In preparations for ”’Back to School 2009”’ our Managed Hosting Engineers will be performing maintenance on our hosted Blackboard environment; the purpose of this maintenance is to proactively perform needed maintenance on the existing infrastructure in our VA2 datacenter.  This maintenance is expected to take place on Friday July 24th, 2009, from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. CDT. During this window service interruptions are expected for all systems.

Blackboard Unavailable July 18th, 5:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

On Saturday, July 18th, Blackboard will not be available from 5:00 am through 3:00 pm. The Blackboard technical staff will be activating the Community System during this time. If you have any questions regarding this planned unavailability of Blackboard, please contact us at blackboard@luc.edu.

Service Interruption Possible 7/13/09, 8:52 p.m.

Blackboard has been notified by one of their ISPs that they are currently experiencing problems within their network. This may result in increased latency and/or packet loss when trying to access your hosted Blackboard system. Blackboard currently has their Managed Hosting Engineers monitoring the situation. We will receive subsequent notification when Blackboard receives additional information by their ISP or when the problem is resolved.

Service Restored

Service Restored: Our Managed Hosting Engineers have corrected the problem and have restored the service to our hosted Blackboard system.

Blackboard has been notified by one of their ISPs that they are currently experiencing problems within their network. This may result in increased latency and/or packet loss when trying to access our hosted Blackboard system. It is possible that traffic will be directed to a second provider during this time.
