This ensemble of approximately 50 student musicians performs major orchestral literature from the seventeenth century to the present. Conducted by Dr. Colin Holman, the Orchestra typically performs four concerts per year in collaboration with the University Chorus. The Orchestra has also worked with an array of student, faculty and guest soloists, including Robert Hanford from the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra.

Membership in Orchestra is open to all students with performance experience. Auditions are held during the first week of each semester to determine enrollment and chair placement. Audition information, as well as online audition sign-up, is available here.

I play the trombone and baritone. I have had more experience with trombone, but I would like to gain more experience with baritone. I do not own a euphonium, however. It is possible to rent one for the summer and next semester? Are there any baritone/euphonium seats open next semester? If euphonium does not work out, I would be more than happy to audition for a trombone seat. I would love to join the orchestra!

Orchestras require enrollment in Music Department courses. The next auditions will be held at the beginning of upcoming school year. Keep an eye out for exact dates and more information on our blog as the time draws near.
