Chilean singer, artist, and musical legend Violeta Parra left behind a powerful legacy. She continues to speak today through her moving love songs and calls to action against political oppression. The influence of this great woman is captured in the new biopic Violeta Went to Heaven. The film’s director, Andrés Wood (best known for his films Machuca and La buena vida), brings this cultural icon to life in this inspiring narration of her life.

The biopic acted as Chile’s 2012 submission for the Academy Award in the category of Best Foreign Language Film, although it was not included in the final selection to be considered for the award.

The Music Box Theatre will present this masterpiece for a limited time only. Shows will only be from April 26 through May 2 so look up a showtime that works for you and be inspired!
