Music and Movement Showcase

Roosevelt University presents their Music and Movement Showcase: Featuring Giordano Dance Chicago in part with the Music and Movement Festival on Wednesday, May 15th at 7:30PM.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students, and can be purchased in advance online.

The Music and Movement Festival allowed eleven different dance companies a chance to compete and work with a variety of musicians to explore and create new pieces.

The Music and Movement Showcase will be performed by the six finalists, as well as the Giordano Dance Chicago company.  The six finalists include Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre, Chicago Human Rhythm Project, DanceWorks Chicago, Kuumba Lynx, Mexican Dance Ensemble, and Thodos Dance Chicago.

The show will be taking place at Roosevelt’s Auditorium Theatre located at 50 E. Congress Parkway.  Directions to the Auditorium Theatre as well as parking information is available online.

Gratitude! at Victory Gardens

Joel Hall Dancers & Center will be presenting Gratitude!  at the Victory Gardens Theatre on May 10th and 11th.  These events includes performances from all JHDC dance companies, as well as several guest companies.  More details are available on JHDC’s Facebook page.

The performance on Friday at 7PM will feature the Joel Hall Dancers, and music by Charles Heath and David Jennings.  Guest dance companies include Inspiración Dance Chicago, Chicago Tap Theatre, and Wake Up! Waltz.

The Saturday performance at 4PM includes dance pieces from South Shore Cultural Center, the EKF Martial Arts School, Agazzis Elementary School, and The Robert R. McCormick Boys and Girls Club.  Another Saturday concert at 7:00PM will feature the Joel Hall Dancers, JHDII (JHD Second Company), and JHDYC (JHD Youth Company).

The Victory Gardens Theatre is located at 2433 N. Lincoln Ave, and tickets are available at the Victory Gardens Theatre Box Office, online, or at 773-871-3000.  Ticket information and prices for the individual dates are also available online.

Although some people have sailed on for the summer, those of you still in Chicago should stop by the 2013 Senior Exhibition if you haven’t already! Featuring work by our recent grads, this exhibition showcases a variety of works from paintings to graphic design spreads and everything in between.

The portion of the exhibition located in the Newhart Family Theatre‘s Promenade is free and open to the public Monday-Friday from 10-4. The Ralph Arnold Fine Arts Annex‘s gallery with the remaining works of the exhibition is open to the public from 12-4 on Saturdays and is also free.
