The Department of Fine and Performing Arts is really excited about this upcoming year’s vast assortment of events in store. In every department, there lies an eclectic range of events that we hope will make this season a really unique experience to be a part of.

If you are interested in being a part of the Fine Arts festivities, you can receive tons of information by joining our mailing list. We will be able to directly send you updates on upcoming events (i.e. ticket sale dates, performance times, etc.) from all of the different departments within the Fine Arts. We have four magnificent mainstage plays this season, a brand new Dance event, some captivating Visual Arts exhibitions, and countless performances from the Music department that will surely leave you in awe.

Old Town Art Fair

Now that summer has arrived, it’s time to make some room for fun and exciting activities. The Old Town Art Fair will definitely be an event chock-full of just that! On June 8th and 9th, make your way down to Chicago’s historic Old Town Triangle District and help celebrate the fair’s 64th year. The gathering  will feature an unbelievably large variety of art including: 2D- and 3D-mixed media, photography, ceramics, glass, etc. from more than 250 nationally acclaimed artists.

There will be live music featuring local talent, a children’s corner that allows families have a blast creating arts and crafts together, a Garden Walk displaying over 50 urban home  gardens , and food from the delicious Italian restaurant, Stefani’s, as well as other local eateries. Souvenir shops will be located throughout the fair offering posters, t-shirts and other Old Town Art Fair collectibles for purchase. Proceeds will benefit a host of local youth groups, schools, and neighborhood non-profits.

Be sure to head down to 1862 N. Lincoln Ave. and enjoy all the artistic and cultural merriment that will pass at this spectacular celebration!

Wells Street Art Festival

Summer is the perfect season for art and culture in Chicago, and the month of June is definitely no exception.

Check out the Wells Street Art Festival on the weekend of June 8.  The summer art fest season is in full swing as the festival returns for its 39th year. Held in Chicago’s historic Old Town neighborhood, the festival is one of the city’s largest and most acclaimed.

This extravaganza features the works of more than 250 juried artists with an eclectic mix of paintings, sculptures, glasswork, photography, ceramics, woodwork, and much more. The tasty cuisine of many Old Town restaurants will also be available. And last but not least, live music and a silent auction will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Be sure to check out the live music, great food, and stupendous art on display on June 8th and 9th on N. Wells Street and North Avenue.
