The Department of Fine and Performing Arts is really excited about this upcoming year’s vast assortment of events in store. In every department, there lies an eclectic range of events that we hope will make this season a really unique experience to be a part of.

If you are interested in being a part of the Fine Arts festivities, you can receive tons of information by joining our mailing list. 32 Superb Summer Concerts

Summer time in Chicago brings you good music and good times with a whooping 32 concerts coming all in the month of June!

Hold on tight, because you will have to be fully prepared for the caliber of music that is sure to tear up the Chicago scene. With performances by noted groups such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Sinfonietta, and the Chicago Folks Operetta, the entertainment will not disappoint. Though some performances have entry fees, the option of FREE festivities such as the Grant Park Music Festival, Make Music Chicago, and Ravinia allow you to avoid breaking your bank!

The Elements Summer Workshop

When thinking of nature’s four elements, some are reminded of spirituality in ancient history. Or maybe they think of their favorite tribe from a popular Nickelodeon television show. Possibly even a certain famous soul group of from the 70′s and 80′s. Well for anyone in the Chicago dance scene, you think about Chicago’s contemporary ballet company, The Elements.

Using the four elements of nature as a basis for creating unique and high caliber new works, this company has come to develop an original, distinctive style all its own and take the ballet world by storm. Sound amazing?

Well, with the Elements Summer Workshop, you, too, have an opportunity to be a part of the magic . It is a rigorous 3-day ballet intensive at Chicago’s Visceral Dance Center based in the unique “Four Elements” training method:

Earth – Physicality: Strength and flexibility conditioning
Air – Focus: Precise technique and execution of line
Water – Freedom: Movement exploration through guided improvisation
Fire – Expression:  Endurance and performance quality
