Loyola just announced a new student media competition, PROJECT IMPACT. By creating an ePortfolio, a photo essay, or a video, students will be able to show how an activity during this past academic year affected the student and the community around them.
Once you’ve decided on a topic, fill out an online proposal and start working. A staff member from Experiential Learning will contact you about the next steps of the contest. Staff members will also have walk-in hours to help students with the projects, if needed.
The grand prize will be $750 towards next semester’s books (or an alternative award if graduating seniors win). The top projects of each category will also have their work showcased at a civic engagement forum in April.
Proposals are due by February 6th.
Support the work of Loyola faculty member Jessica Gondek by visiting her newest exhibition, Interpreting Antoni Gaudí: Works by Jessica Gondek. The exhibition is currently on display at the Harold Washington Library Center downtown, and it will remain open through March 30. Taking inspiration from her time spent in Spain, Professor Gondek fuses the sculptural nature of Gaudí’s work with her own specialty with printed work.
The exhibition is free and open to the public, but be sure to check the library website for updated hours and other arts events.
Feel like seeing an art exhibition but don’t want to leave the warmth of your apartment or dorm room? Check out Loyola University Museum of Art (LUMA)‘s new online exhibition, Closer By the Minute!
David and Hi-Jin Hodge, the mastermind husband and wife video artist and film-making team, methodically used technology to draw attention to nine topics in nine different artistic works. One work will be released each month online until September 2012, each exploring a different social, metaphysical, or interpersonal subject.
Here you’ll find the exhibition’s first installment, How We Met, which interviews 30 couples about how their relationships began and what kind of insight they can offer on relationships in general. Also, be sure to click on the future works at the bottom of the exhibition’s homepage to see what you can look forward to in the coming months!
