Macbeth meets Opera

Talk about drama! Shakespeare’s classic Macbeth meets opera this autumnĀ at the Chicago Opera Theater. Penned in 1906 by a 24-year-old Swiss-American writer, Shakespeare’s original tale of murder and the quest for power lends itself beautifully to a passionate musical score. Follow Macbeth as he plots and ploys to murder King Duncan and ascend to the Scottish throne with Lady Macbeth — his conniving wife — by his side. Ernest Bloch’s rich melodies accompany the bloody plot chronicling Macbeth’s inevitable descent into madness.

Catch one of four powerful performances at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park between September 13 – 21. Check for dates here. The show runs for approximately 110 minutes.
