Tempest Winds

Although it doesn’t quite feel like fall yet, the forecast is calling for some wind — Tempest Winds that is. Instructor Johanna Sterba of Loyola University Chicago teaches the Applied Bassoon course and has her very own classical chamber music group ready to bust out in tune.

The trio of freelance musicians (A.K.A. the Tempest Winds) will be having a performance on Saturday, October 12 at The Musical Offering in Evanston, IL. Their debut concert is named A Tropical Storm of Sounds which draws on la musíca of Latin America. The trio includes Julianne Skones playing oboe, Heather Thon playing clarinet, and Hanna Sterba playing bassoon.  Along with their group musical numbers, the performers are also playing solo pieces.

So if you’re getting depressed about the inevitable fall weather coming our way, go take a listen to A Tropical Storm of Sounds to brighten up your mood. Students with a valid ID only have to pay $10 at the door to see this steamy performance. General admission otherwise is $15 and you can buy them here.

See you bassoon!
