3 New Arts Majors at LUC

Exciting things are happening in Loyola’s Department of Fine and Performing Arts! 3 new arts focused majors have just been announced for the following academic year!

Music Majors: In addition to the B.A. currently offered in music, two new music B.A.s will be offered with concentrations in Sacred Music or Jazz Studies. The Sacred Music concentration will prepare students to become church music directors while also receiving a solid curricula from the current music program. The Jazz Studies concentration will focus on performing jazz music with courses like jazz improvisation while also studying jazz’s history and composition. Dance Major: Offering a conservatory level dance training while still allowing for students to pursue an Ignatian liberal arts curriculum, this new Dance major will include the most significant element of conservatory training: a daily ballet class. Additional course work will be offered in modern dance following the technique and theory of Doris Humphrey, pointe, jazz dance, dance physiology, and much more.
